Dubuque Iowa Aims For HIGH Sustainability

A little about Dubuque: My midwest town vies for a top sustainability rating. They welcome progressive young people who want to build a sustainable future. We do NOT welcome "wealth builders" from MA, NY, NJ, CA & IL who want to spend their trust funds to overinflate the market. We do not like, and will SHUN Baby Boomers with "go green" on their Subaru's, yet do NOTHING to contribute to keeping the town affordable and local. We DO welcome Gen Y and Gen X young people who are progressive, fight for livable wage, yet don't lean overly "lefty liberal". We want AFFORDABLE food co-op's, biofuel, wind power, farmers markets and people to use bicycles - not the pretentious green talking/do nothing's that permeate Burlington, Vermont and Eugene, Oregon  and who invite inner city criminals and refugees to move in for hand-outs. We are peaceful but do own guns here for self-defense, so if you don't like that don't bother moving here! Don't come here looking for a Sanctuary City or WELFARE. If you want hard work, a chance to build something good, green, and community oriented living then Dubuque is for you. This is not a bible thumping state and most adherents are Lutheran - an accepting church. Iowa has full gay marriage and we welcome you! We just do not want violent hoodlums, massive refugee problems, or big city money attitudes.....

I am a hippie type ready to move from from Burlington, Vermont. I know what you mean.... The rich arrogant baby boomers have taken over our fair city. All of North Burlington is now drug dealers from Springfield Mass and Somali Refugees. The older boomer liberals have "white guilt" and want give welfare cash to every street thug who wants to make welfare babies and beat their ho's. Where can a hippie go for peace and quiet to make bread and tofu without being beaten up? I think I'll try Dubuque!

My home town is Fairfield, Iowa. Like Dubuque it focuses on sustainability. We also don't want pretentious people from NY, NJ, MA, IL, CA ruining our fair town. Come to Fairfield if you want to fit in and keep it AFFORDABLE - Read into this..... NO 4 Bedroom Home Developments - and NO Suburbanites! Small sustainable REASONABLY PRICED homes and farms only here!
